I think it is good that people can own a home, a vehicle, and go make a living doing something that expresses who they are as people. It is good to live in a neighborhood where the grass is green, and kids can go out and play and imagine a world of their own. But far too little people have that. And to make that dream a reality for all people who aspire to it, then the system must change. I’ve been told over and over again that capitalism is the greatest system. They say it’s the most practical system. And even today I read where someone said, “In capitalism a poor person CAN become rich.” I’d ask this: how did the poor become impoverished in the first place? While capitalists (Wall Street, corporations, and the politicians that support them) preach the gospel of hope in prosperity, it simultaneously works to pay people less, and steal what little they have. While one person may go from rags to riches, millions find themselves going from rags to ditches. Millions are impoverished financially, mentally, materially, socially, and spiritually.
