This is a very interesting piece. I thought people would enjoy reading it. All text and picture are from the following website, which has great articles etc.
Our movement is not a new movement. Rather, it is a movement, as old as human society itself. It is a reincarnation and re-invigoration of movements that have passed away into the deep crevices of historical memory, where they have been carefully placed in graveyards to be honored, but never practiced again. They want us to stand remain passive curators in the museum of social action. But we won’t do that. We cannot do that.
The Whole World Is (Normally) Not Watching (As Much as We Would Like)
Lovely as dreams and visions of a better society are, smart and committed as we all are, beautiful and creative and brave and all of that, we need to be very realistic about what we have the resources to achieve and what we don’t yet have the resources to achieve. We have to be very honest with ourselves of what can be done, how much it will take and what time frame is possible. This is tough because it confronts us with limitations that are not present when just wishing and hoping.
Untill I can write up my own breakdown enjoy this article on what I think may be a modern educational tool for those who've come to the occupy movement, Lessig's book: Republic Lost
